Azure & Cloud Modernization
Azure & Cloud Modernization
From assessment-led migration to cloud-native redesign, DevOps automation, and security built in from day one, we help you get the most out of Azure without disrupting the business running on it today.
Azure Migration • Azure Modernization • Cloud & DevOps Engineering • Cloud Security • Azure Services
Assessment-led migration : A real plan built from what you're actually running, not a generic lift-and-shift.
Security built in, not audited in : Identity, network, and data controls are part of the architecture from day one.
DevOps that makes releases routine : CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and monitoring, not a manual deployment process.
Azure Migration
A migration that's rushed shows up as downtime, a broken integration, or a bill nobody planned for. We migrate applications and data to Azure against a plan built from an actual assessment of what you're running today, not a generic checklist. Some workloads lift and shift cleanly; others need re-architecting first, and we tell you which is which before the migration starts.
Infrastructure and dependency assessment : We map what each application depends on, databases, integrations, scheduled jobs, so nothing gets left behind or breaks silently on cutover day.
Lift-and-shift vs. re-architecture : We size up which path is faster and cheaper for each workload instead of defaulting to one approach for everything.
A cutover plan with a rollback : Migration windows are scheduled around your traffic patterns, with a tested rollback path, so a migration issue is a delay, not an outage.
Data migration without data loss : Databases and file stores move with validation steps that confirm what landed in Azure matches what left the source.
Post-migration tuning : We monitor performance and cost for the first weeks and adjust sizing, because the environment that looked right in planning rarely matches real traffic on day one.
Cross-cloud experience : We've migrated Windows, Linux, and mixed-stack environments, and moved workloads from AWS and Google Cloud onto Azure.
Azure Modernization
From readiness assessment to cloud-native redesign and ongoing operations, we help you get the most out of Azure without disrupting the business running on it today. Azure has a service for almost everything, which is exactly the problem, we architect around what your application actually needs, not the full catalog.
Scalable storage : Files, media, backups, and documents move onto Azure Blob Storage, so they stay available, redundant, and cheap to keep at scale, without you managing the disks underneath.
Shared file access : Azure File Storage gives systems and teams shared, always-on access over standard SMB, so one machine isn't a single point of failure.
Secrets out of config files : API keys, connection strings, and certificates move into Azure Key Vault, encrypted, access-controlled, and auditable.
Serverless workloads : Azure Functions runs code in response to an HTTP call, a queue message, or a data change, scaling automatically so you're not paying for idle infrastructure.
Single sign-on : Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) gives your team one login across applications and services, with centralized control over who has access to what.
Cost that tracks real usage : We right-size your environment, set up proactive monitoring and alerting, and continuously tune resource usage so spend tracks actual demand.
Cloud & DevOps Engineering
We build and operate cloud-native applications across Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud, with CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and monitoring in place from day one, not bolted on later. Whether you're standing up a new platform or hardening one already in production, we handle container orchestration, deployment pipelines, and observability so your team ships releases on a schedule.
Multi-cloud engineering experience : Our team works across Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud, with deep knowledge in cloud strategy, migration, and day-to-day operation.
Infrastructure as code : Environments defined and versioned in code, so they're repeatable, auditable, and fast to stand up or tear down.
Kubernetes & container orchestration : Deploy, scale, and operate containerized workloads on managed Kubernetes, wherever you run it.
CI/CD pipelines : Automated build, test, and deployment pipelines that make releases routine instead of risky.
Monitoring & observability : Logs, metrics, and traces in one place, with alerts that catch problems before your customers do.
Full DevOps lifecycle : Infrastructure as code, CI/CD, containerization, and serverless architecture, set up as one connected system, not disconnected tools.
Cloud Security
A cloud environment is only as secure as its weakest default setting. We harden Azure environments against the mistakes that actually cause breaches, open storage, overbroad permissions, unpatched images, instead of chasing every theoretical risk. Security gets built in during architecture, not bolted on after a penetration test finds the gaps.
Least-privilege identity and access : Role-based access control and conditional access policies limit who can reach what, so a compromised account doesn't mean a compromised environment.
Network segmentation : Virtual networks, subnets, and network security groups are configured so a compromise in one tier doesn't mean an open path to everything else.
Continuous monitoring : Microsoft Defender for Cloud and centralized logging flag unusual activity as it happens, instead of surfacing it in a report three months later.
Encryption and secrets management : Data at rest and in transit is encrypted by default, and secrets move into Azure Key Vault where they're access-controlled and auditable.
Compliance mapped to real frameworks : Controls are aligned to SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001, or whatever applies to your business, so an audit finds evidence, not gaps.
Remediation, not just a findings list : When we assess an existing environment, we fix what we find instead of handing over a report and moving on.
Azure Services We Work With
Azure Technologies
Azure has a service for nearly every layer of an application, compute, data, integration, identity, security, DevOps, monitoring, and networking. Below is what we work with most, grouped the way we actually use it on client projects.
AI & Generative AI on Azure : We build with Microsoft Foundry, Azure OpenAI / Foundry Models, and Azure AI Search for retrieval-augmented generation, plus Azure Machine Learning for custom model work. See how we apply these in AI Transformation and AI Knowledge & RAG.

Azure & Cloud Modernization FAQs
Common questions about Azure migration, modernization, DevOps, and cloud security.
How long does an Azure migration take?
Timelines depend on the number and complexity of applications being migrated.
- A single self-contained application: a few weeks
- A multi-application environment with interdependencies: several months
What's the difference between lift-and-shift and re-architecting?
Lift-and-shift moves an application to Azure VMs largely as-is, faster, but doesn't take advantage of managed services.
Re-architecting redesigns the application around Azure-native services, takes longer, but often reduces long-term operating cost.
What Microsoft Azure services does Akantik provide?
Akantik provides a full range of Microsoft Azure services including:
- Azure Blob Storage for scalable object storage
- Azure Key Vault for secure secrets management
- Azure Functions for serverless computing
- Microsoft Entra ID for identity management
See the full list by category further down this page.
Which cloud platforms does Akantik work with?
Akantik builds and operates cloud-native applications across:
- Microsoft Azure
- AWS
- Google Cloud
Is Azure secure by default?
Azure provides secure infrastructure, but most breaches trace back to customer-side misconfiguration. Security in Azure is a shared responsibility, and the customer-side half is where most gaps live.
Can Akantik help with SOC 2, HIPAA, or ISO 27001 compliance in Azure?
Yes, we map technical controls to the specific requirements of SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001, and other frameworks, and help prepare the evidence auditors ask for.
What does Akantik's DevOps setup actually include?
A typical DevOps setup includes:
- CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment
- Infrastructure as code for repeatable, auditable environments
- Kubernetes for container orchestration
